David Series

#262 (1996-1998 Study) 2 Sam 12:1

1. learn the differences of grace and discipline:

a. when we are disciplined, God is treating us in Grace.

b. we always want it easy and get mad or blame God when things go badly,

but God is showing His love by keeping us in line.

c. we sometimes may think as we grow, that we will not face discipline anymore and get shocked when we face it.

2. Instead on concentrating on the message, we concentrate on the personality, people in the pews expect more out of their Pastor than from themselves, they have eyes on people and not on B-D.

3. Don't be so hyper-sensitive when learning B-D, be open and objective and not subjective, LEARN the Word and apply it.

4. Why Prophets in the OT?

A. their were the Priests and the Prophets

B. Priests carried out Levitical functions, Prophets spoke a word of the Lord to leaders and people, they carried a special message.

5. Many people get involved into Church organizations to find a mate and not for B-D.

a. A Church is not a marriage market or a lonely hearts club, but a place to learn doctrine, we need to cut the crap and keep our focus on B-D!

6. Don't get shocked by some offensive language from the Bible OR A PREACHER, BE IN TOUCH WITH LIFE, ITS NOT ALL SWEETNESS AND LIFE, but "real".

7. David after Bathsheba is out of fellowship and God is sending a messenger (Nathan) to challenge David to get back into fellowship, to rebound and get moving again.

8. The power is in the Word of God and not in the communicator!

9. Look at the message and not the communicator, he is not perfect but a sinful person as you and I, LEARN God's Word, that's what it's all about!

10. God cannot use your gift if you're arrogant, no matter how great your gift, if you have no authority or grace orientation.

a. Nathan approaches David and doesn't say "you jerk.." Nathan respected David's authority as King, he was King over Israel and Nathan, David also respected Nathan's authority as Prophet. You respect authority! God uses prepared people, those who have divine establishment, He doesn't need rebel rousers or arrogant people, those with no respect for authority, but those who have respect for office!

11. Don't depend on personality for a ministry, but put B-D first, working in the flesh is weakness. Make B-D your strength.

11. Only 1 prophet was prepared for the confrontation to the King, it took humility and professionalism, Nathan uses a parable and David passes judgment on himself, instead of preaching AT him. A Pastor should teach the Word and let the Spirit convict instead of the pastor passing judgment and being a baby-sitter and developing a higher archy.

a. we must judge ourselves based on B-D, the pastor is a communicator of doctrine, not one to pass judgment or be a baby sitter.

b. let the Bible do the talking, let the Word judge and convict us, just teach the Word and LET THE SPIRIT TAKE OVER.

1. A Pastor is needed because the average person will not have the self-discipline to study topics on his own in which he has little interest in the subject, but under authority, the person learns under his right pastor ALL of God's word.

2. David comes out of Reversionism by judging himself through Nathan's parable, if Nathan came to David and said "You're a sinner...ect" he would have reacted like anyone of us would do, but for us to realize our own flaws in an objective way leads to recovery much easier.

3. No one EVER gets away with anything, no matter who you are, God always presides!

#264 2 SAMUEL 12:5 Nathan's Parable

1. Never think you are more important than Doctrine!

2. One reason DAVID does not die sun unto death is he will make restitution, and he will pay it 4 to 1 back.

3. David answered Nathan's parable correctly, by dying and paying back 4 to 1, before David dies, he will make restitution 4 to 1.

4. David is quoting from the Mosaic law about the penalties for death to Nathan, David was carnal, caught up in a moment of sin but NOT REVERSIONISTIC!

a. being given this dish--David woke up...sometimes good comes out of sorrow.

5. It takes a long time to reach SuperGrace, but once there--we are always vulnerable, David got lazy in sugergrace by neglecting or lack of testing and he stumbles with Bathsheeba...then woke up when the consequences came and David repented..David's heart was for God, he never rejected God--just neglected at times.

1. Rebound is not an excuse to sin, no one needs help in that dept. We Need to understand Grace! and how God operates and not be playing into traditions or live on "feelings".

2. What causes one to wonder from Doctrine? Because the lust or evil they think "what can do something for me"

a) A man who says I love you and really means "You can do something for me" Or "you can make me happy" That love is not of the other person but directed toward self.

b) You can get distracted by money, approbation lust, Power lust, etc.. and the

main ingredient is always ARROGANCE!

3. Arrogance turns David into an honorable man into a selfish beast! But David when he gets in too deep--he repents and gets back to basics.

4. Criminal arrogance is not limited, the criminal will commit any type of crime when the situation hits and they are influenced by arrogance. When out of fellowship, our weakness' dominates our soul and we can do many things we normally wouldn't.

#267 2 SAMUEL 12:8-9 1. True capacity for life when you have no B-D in your soul and/or have a wrong scale of values. You'll never find or enjoy happiness when your searching to satisfy self.

2. Power demands humility! No matter how qualified you are, you will distort the power if you have no integrity, B-D produces the most genuine Integrity and Honor.

a) David had great honor, and it came from his sincere love for God.

3. Love is thinking, Love is thought.(Not lust) Liking someone based on looks. Love requires thought, true love is based on compatibility, their scale of values, etc.. Based on your scales.

4. Arrogance can wipe you out, and do it so suttlely and so quickly! David was almost wiped out, it snuck up on him, David repented before it was too late, but as discipline, he had trouble for the rest of his life due from Uriah murder.

5. Arrogance is when people also "Play God" Govt. who tries to run your life, not protecting freedom any longer, a preacher who tells you how to live and meddle in peoples life Instead of teaching B-D and letting people use their own volition.

a) You can be a leader and make sure they do their job, but YOU cannot tell them how to run their lives! That's "Playing God" and it's very arrogant, thinking YOU know how to runs peoples lives better than they do, be it a politician, DR, Lawyer, Preacher, Foreman, etc.. Just do your job, set good examples and give people freedom and privacy!!

#268 2 SAMUEL 12:10 Nathan sticks to details

1. Usually in rebound, the discipline is diminished or done away with, but for David--the discipline would be put into 4 installments over the next 10 years, so he could bare it.

2. Once you rebound, your discipline will never be stronger than what you can bare.

3. FOR in which more is given, more is expected, David's punishment was high, for David's responsibility to God was great to lead His nation Israel.

4. Nathan in V.11 tells David of the last installment of discipline, that Absalom will take David's wives, David took Uriah's wife in private, David's wives will be raped openly.

A) Notice Nathan's precise details of prophecy---a true prophet, no vague nonsense.

5. By Absalom taking his wives for sex, he is saying I Have all my fathers authority--I have all he posses'. (2 Samuel 16:20)

6. If you are Objective in your thinking--you will be objective in your Business affairs, personal life, counseling, etc.. Remain FREE from arrogance.

a) When you think YOU are something or your opinion is valid-then you've become arrogant and that arrogance will spread over into other areas of your life and soon you'll be a total bore and an ass to be around, you'll seek to control people be dominance or by a pity-party, a real baby with no capacity for life and GOD is far away from you until you rebound.

#269 (at) 2 SAMUEL 12:10-13

1. No one can rule honorably by forsaking the laws of Divine establishment...David temporarily went that way, Absalom ended up that way, it can happen to anyone who starts off very innocently neglecting Doctrine!

2. You cannot be a politician and BE a responsible leader at the same time, unless you reached the office and don't care for re-election or party affiliation (rare).

3.Weak people take bad advice! Strong people take good advice and constructive criticism.

A) Weak ruler also reject good sound advice, only want to please self FIRST.

4 Common sense resides in objectivity.

A) spend time in Doctrine and not gimmicks of people.

B) stop looking to man for success, but keep trusting in God and seek his counsel.

5. We all enter arrogance by our own volition, take responsibility for all your actions.

a) in rebound, just state the facts and move on, not worrying of finding fault.

6. Weakness' does not mean failure, but our own volition is!

#270 2 SAMUEL 12:13 God Judges

1. A Strong Foreign policy is a Strong Military! To be able to back up what you say and believe, otherwise, being weak you must cater and give concessions and patsy to the strong.

2. David rebounds and is forgiven, he doesn't try to make it up with everyone, go tell everyone he's sorry. David knew he sinned against God and God was all he was accountable to (and to take care of Bathsheeba for murdering her husband). That's grace.

3. When you are bitter towards someone--you are saying "God isn't in control of my enemies, so I'll take care of it!"

A) God will judge those who wrong you! Put your faith in God! Not trying to do it all yourself and getting so uptight and worrying about your ego and vain things. TrustGOD!

4. David continued on this earth--but he paid in full for his sins. We NEVER get away with anything! We will always get disciplined for our sins, and so will those who wrong you!

5. Why didn't David rebound earlier? He was in arrogance (blind, crusader, criminal arrogance.ect) It took Nathan's word from the Lord to get him to come around.

a) God will do whatever it takes to reach us. We may seem to have fun for a bit, but it all catches up to us sooner or later. Then at that point you must choose--come back to doctrine or not??

6. Nathan says David's SIN was forgiven--he committed many, but it was all lumped together.

#271 (at) 2 SAMUEL 12:14 David Rebounds

1. David rebounded and God instantly put him back into fellowship.

a) better to spend a time out from fellowship in a binge of sinning, than to be out of fellowship for a year or two as David was. (neither is good).

b) When coming back to God after a year or two, one has to re-learn B-D.

2. A sin gets you out of fellowship--but entering Interlocking Systems of Arrogance, keeps you out of fellowship and warps your thinking and capacity. Sin them dominates your soul.

3.All Divine Discipline is designed for Cursing turned to blessings or for testing.

a( I CORI 10:13--No testing or discipline will overcome you from the Lord.

God may not relieve our discipline, but will give us the power to be able to endure.

4. All Believers in I.L.S.of arrogance or totaling Subjective, Nathan had to use a Story to get David to be rational and Objective and trap David by his own words to admit his failure, otherwise, to come straight out with judgment, David would have reacted, David had sunken deep into I.L.S.of Arrogance.

#272 2 SAMUEL 12:14 (at) Hyper Sensitive people

1. David did not enter sexual arrogance by accident nor does anyone, we enter by our own volition. Need to dwell on past or blame someone, just Rebound and keep Moving.

2. Sin+Human Good=Evil. Human Good+Arrogance=Evil.

3. God allowed David to sin but did not sponsor David's sin. God gives us free will.

4. Unbearable suffering is being inside Int L.S.of arrogance, without rebound, you'll eventually crack UP--ITS BOUND TO HAPPEN.

a) To take the heat off one's self--we look for a scapegoat--find a patsy.

b) The first step to recovery is to be objective and take responsibility for yourself and quit passing the buck to someone else.

5. When in authority--we take responsibility--even when it's not your fault, that a part of growing up and be objective and knowing your place in authority, forgetting your EGO but doing an honorable job and not Trying to look good as so many do (vain).

6. Hyper-Sensitivity is arrogance. (Over estimating yourself is arrogance.)

a) Hyper sensitive people are ones who say "don't talk to me like that" and try to pull rank or something Instead of paying attention to the problem at hand, they are sensitive and wear their feelings on their sleeves--don't want to look bad in front of people--they always make an issue of self.

7. Any one can be People Smart--But Arrogance will lower your people smart to ZERO.

a) Arrogant people are pre-occupied with self and do not care for the feelings of others and treat people like trash basically.

8. Many people quip "well he's smart but not people smart!" Well he's arrgant that's why.

a) Arrogance cannot think but emotes and is focused on self, can Never take criticism, always feels threatened when someone does a better job, Always want to show everyone up and be known as Top Dog.

9. Arrogance destroys capacity for life. Arrogant people are unhappy people, they make themselves unhappy long before the Lord touch's them with divine discipline.

#273 (at) PSALM 38/PSALM 32

1. You cannot solve your problems when you are blaming someone else.

a) Finding a scapegoat doesn't change anything, but in arrogance you try t. make yourself look good to fellow man, buy making someone else look bad. People like this are vain, egocentric and are not trusting in GOD to provide their needs.

b) To be mature is to take responsibility for your actions--whether you make you look good or not, forget opinion of man!

2. God is not fighting your battles for you when you are in Arrogance!

3. In arrogance David cannot handle his enemies or his suffering.

a) Suffering doesn't let up until Rebound occurs.

b) There's nothing no one can do for you until you Rebound.

4. Installment Discipline is to stretch it out over several years so you can take it.

a) David's sins were great that he couldn't pay for it all at one time so God gave it to him in 4 installments.

5. David waited a while before rebounding and he was miserable (Psalm 32)

#274 PSALM 32:5

1. The most important thing you can posses is B-D.

2. God is our Hiding place in every circumstance of life.

3. The best plans are worthless when you leave out B-D!

4. If you neglect B-D in times of prosperity, in adversity. you'll be grasping at straws and desperate and too late to learn Doctrine then.

a) Make B-D No.1 priority NOW--while you have time to learn.

b) Don't let anything come before you and doctrine, Nothing is more important.

#275 (at) PSALM 32:8-9

1. With installment discipline, you must have breathing space, Doctrine will prepare you for the stages as they come.

2. David become great from doctrine that he learned in-between his installments.

3. When you combine Sin + arrogance=you have EviL.

#276 (at) PSALM 32:8-11(end)/PSALM 51

1.David made it through all his sins by getting out of Interlocking systems and got back on track with B-D and God gave the discipline to David in 4 installments, that's Grace.

2. A relaxed mental attitude is all it takes for success in life, you get that by B-D.

a) w/o it you find excuses for your failures.

b) don't let a handi-cap hold you back, when you allow arrogance become an issue--you enter into in-ordinate ambition.

c) The Arrogant always make an issue, be it race or handi-caps, environment, etc..

3. Doesn't make a difference your skin color, what side of tracks you came from...only thing that matters is YOUR relationship with God!

a) stop looking to man or self for promotion--wait on God.

4. ---> VERSE 10 "Many sorrows for the wicked, but he that trusts in the Lord--mercy shall surround him".

5. ---> Verse 11 says "Rejoice in the lord..." without God, it's impossible to truly enjoy and have capacity or life.

6.--->Psalm 51:3 David confesses his sin, and GOD forgave and in Grace gave 4 installments.

#277 (at) PROVERBS 31 Virtuious Woman

1. David's sons many didn't inherent the thrown because of their arrogance.

2. David because of polygamy was a strong man and leader BUT a weak father.

3. Many of the wives in David's harem were competitive and arrogance, they all wanted their sons(s) to be next King.

4. Abigail and Bathsheba had class. Abigail's son (Killiab) is never mentioned to give David any trouble.

a) David's polygamy might have been fun in his youth, but his children quickly turned his hair grey---You reap what you show.

5. B-D intake can help one over come the traps and pitfalls of Arrogance.

a) Arrogance makes a weak father and a dominating mother.

6. ---> Dissertation on virtuous woman (Proverbs 31).

a) Better to be Alone, than to be with woman who cares less for God and B-D!

#279 FASTING "Trusting in God--letting Him rule" "Life when it's over"

1. People shouldn't use gimmicks for ministries--if you have to beg then God's not in it or there's NO motivation.

a) Leave the ministry in God's hands, not playing on peoples emotions--thta is not scriptural but criminal.

2. No believer can handle suffering if being occupied with self.

a) That's why in arrogance its UN bearable.

3. FASTING:not just not eating but ceasing from many functions to focus on God or your cause, to abstain from food, sex, shaving,work--keeping a clear focus on God.

a) David Fasted for his child that was struck ill as punishment for David's sins.

b) Setting aside the routines of life to concentrate on God.

4. David was helpless in his 1st installment of discipline and depended on God, David has rebounded and fully trusted God, David wasn't bitter but realized God's grace just for him to remain alive after all he had done.

5. David left the whole situation in the lords hands.

6. Learn your limitations and be content with your place in life--Trust God and not keep trying to find fame and success. (If it's of GOD--it will happen).

7. Have Doctrinal motivation--not human success.

8. Enjoy the humble place in life--let God lead and be in control--He will promote and Bless.

9. What did your life gain you? What does it mean? When you come face to face with death, when you got to the top apart from God, have no true friends but those who use you, what life did you live when it's over?????????????

10. For 7 days, David fasted to hope to persuade God's will to save the child born from the sin. David has rebounded, Trusted God, wasn't mad or bitter--knew God was just and fair in discipline.

11. In Discipline, God knows how to get us where it hurts and to keep us in line, it isn't worth it to stay out of fellowship for prolong periods of time.

a) God removes those from us that Distracts us from B-D.

b) whatever you put more than B-D--if you don't put it out, God eventually will or take you out.

#280 (at-love/romance)

1. Arrogant people who use you--will live to dispies you!

#281 2 SAMUEL 12:18 David's fasting & trust in the Lord (not emotional)

1. David kept praying for the first born from Bathseba--he didn't get mad or bitter-but Knew the Grace of God and was humble.

a) David kept getting a NO, he kept praying until last minute.

b) don't be discouraged if prayer is answered NO--but rather know God is faithful!

2. The staff didn't ant to tell David the child had died, for they had seen David in arrogance (but maybe they didn't know it was that-only saw David unstable) and thought by telling David that he might kill himself or something.

a) The world cannot understand Christians, David had rebounded and was back on sold ground, a quick mental recovery, but his staff views David still as unstable.

b) Many people who come back to God--others say "How long will it last this time?" And often it doesn't if it's based on emotion and no B-D, but David's faith was solid and based on Doctrine, and He recovered.

c) So when David rose from fasting after the child had died--he knew God's Grace has overrulled his will, David has bitter, didn't react, but went about his business , now a stronger man. Whereas his staff hadn't yet realized David's repentance.

#282 2 SAMUEL 12:18

1. In Arrogance, no matter what you own, what you've attained--you lack capacity to enjoy it.

2.No tragedy in life is greater than Bible-Doctrine!!

3. Giving is a form of worship--not how much you give, but your attitude for giving, not out of guilt or ulterior motives, but thanksgiving.

4. Worship is concentration No.1--not emotion or singing but concentration oh Him.

Spiritual food before physical food--Doctrine before entertainment.

a) David got up from fasting, cleaned himself then he went into the tabernacle THEN his home.

1. Be clean when you can, not a bum.

#284 2 SAMUEL 12:20

1. Loyalty does not maintain integrity--but Integrity maintains loyalty.

2. People with no integrity but loyalty is one who kisses up to the one who pays the wages or the only one who can fire him, but cheats, loafs and dis-respects others in the company.

a) That person has loyalty BUT no integrity.

b) Integrity ALWAYS has loyalty!

#285 (at) 2 SAMUEL 12:22 David prays for son to live 1. The son was taken home to Heaven, for David lost NOTHING that was given to him by God's Grace, this son was done while in Interlocking systems of Arrogance.

a) God's gifts are from His justice and we have capacity for it, but when we make a mess of things ourselves, we want God to fix it and let us keep things we acquired in sin,

b) Sometimes we can keep them, but things attained apart from Grace is Fleeting.

2. David was Graced out for all his sins, God's grace is Endless.

3. David got 4 installments over a 10 year period, then afterwards he also had another 10 years to live.

a) David's installments was to turn cursing into blessing, and given to David a little at a time so he could handle all the punishment.

4. Arrogance Hangover: Just recovering, Grace definition is blurred, David prayed for the son to live because David wanted it, not realizing it's his punishment, and David remained alive because of God's grace, sincere motive but selfish and APART of God's will.

a) We think "God will cancel our discipline if we be a good little boy" NO WAY, God's Grace and judgment is supreme. God does "give in" by emotions.

b) If God lets you get by with sin, then God is sponsoring Sin, no one is above the law--we all get our deserved discipline! No one gets away with anything, God punishes sin.

5. Grace is not subordinated to the whims and desires of the believer, but Grace is subordinated to the Justice of God.

a) David wanted God to do what David wanted God to do.

b) Grace is not to be abused or distorted by man.

6. God invented Grace--not David (or anyone of us). God blesses us w/o compromising His attributes.

#287 (at) 2 SAMUEL 12:24-25

1. David named new son (Solomon) would be next King. (1 Kings 1:7)

a) David promised at sometime that Solomon would be next King and not the oldest son of David (Adonijah).

2. The true orientation of authority is to rid of the troublemakers.

3. You must be ruthless to troublemakers for the sake of others.

4. when Solomon took throne, he rid of all potential troublemakers from the get go.

5. Sooner or later, troublemakers destroy themselves.

a) They are smart in conspiracy matters but stupid in matters of destroying self.

#288 2 SAMUEL 12:26- 28 (Content Joab-taking Rabbah)

1. Joab was a true soldier and had NO political aspirations.

a) Many great potential soldiers have played it safe for future political reasons.

2. Joab was humble and didn't care to take the credit for capturing Rabbah--he had nothing to prove and David knew his abilities and treated him well. Joab was content and had no power-lust motives, he wasn't looking with any new hills to conquer.

a) Joab didn't need to be praised and wined and dined, Joab was content!

3. When you are successful in ANYTHING--theres always a con-artist in the background, someone who wants to exploit you!

a) Joab Refused to take credit for all he has done--he was in corruptible in the field of success! He didn't care for fame or the limelight.

#289 (Joab takes no credit) (Trust God OR praise from Man?) (Max Hoffman -middle)

1. No one looses when they let someone else take the credit.

a) Never worry about who takes the credit--live your life as unto God.

b) God sees all and promotes. You may go un-noticed in the world, but gain Honor in God's eyes.

c) To give credit to the superior in charge is honorable, only the arrogant wants to take the credit to be seen in the eyes of man.

2. No one ever looses by letting someone else take the credit. God sees all.

a) Joab wasn't thinking of personal advance, but wanting to restore David and his Army.

a) Discipline and Authority takes precedence over personal gain.

b) A staff is to make their boss look good.

3. It takes Faith to trust in God and to trust in Him for blessings and promotions--for all come from him.

a) Are you going to have faith and honor OR want the praise of man?

#290 (JESUS CHRIST CONTROLS HISTORY) (EVIL COMPANIONS)

2 SAMUEL 12:29-31

1. No Matter what a great Victory--the victory is always the Lord. In DUET 20:12 It says "The Lord has delivered into your hand..".

a) The credit always goes to God--never Us for our victories--be it personal or team.

2. Samuel 12:31 David put to death the men of Rabbath.

a) Evil people must be destroyed, not popular in this politically correct society--but the people of Rabbath would have led Israel astray and were evil.

b) Just as Solomon's wives led him astray to serve after their false God's and idols.

c) Evil companions corrupt good desires.

1. Absalom WAS A GENIUS AND WOULD HAVE MADE A great King after David--but one thing ruined him--arrogance.

2. God will never put more on us than we can bear. David's discipline was so great that God had to slice it up into installments.

a) Installments that never hindered David's Spiritual growth.

#293 (at) 2 SAMUEL 13:1-3 (Mutual Arrogant weakness-Amnon & Jonahdad)

1. Arrogant people who use you--they dispies you!

a) When Amnon rapes Tamar--he wants nothing to do with her again.

b) He didn't love her, but liked the challenge.

2. Arrogance always dispies what arrogance can always conquer!

a) Tamar was good for one rape, then Amnon could care less for her.

3. Weak arrogant people always take bad advice.

a) Give them a choice between good and bad advice and they take the Bad advice, because their weak! Weak people gravitate to bad advice.

4. Jonahdad gives BAD advice to Amnon--and he takes it.

5. Arrogant people always have bad friends--you attract your own kind!

6. Jonahdad was evil and like his father Shimea--was rejected by God.

a) Jonahdad was cousin of Amnon and son of Shimea (David's brother--and Samuel passed over him when at Jesse's searching for next crown King).

7. When likes (not opposites) attract and they are both arrogant--one is uses the other or both. They only seek to satisfy self.

#294 2 SAMUEL 13:5 (Jonahdad gives Amnon bad advice)

1. David was duped by hi son Amnon, David ordered Tamar to go over to Amnon and feed him. a) David was so pre-occupied with Amnon and his needs, that he brought in vulnerable Tamar to be raped.

b) Incestrial rape is one of the worst kind and that's what happened to Tamar.

#295 2 SAMUEL 13:5-6 (Amnon rapes Tamar) (Happy David caught off guard)

1. TWO Things to make a good leader or one in authority...

a) Honor:Integrity plus loyalty. Great sense of responsibility for that Authority.

2. When you have power, be careful because someone will want to exploit it and use you for their gain.

3. David was no naive to see through his son's request for Tamar to feed him (Amnon).

a) David was caught off guard and was used in the rape by ordering Tamar to go over to see Amnon.

b) This is the 2nd installment of David's discipline.

4. If David was people smart in this situation, David would have disciplined and sent him off to the Negev or something.

a) David has embarrassed by being used by Amnon for the rape of Tamar.

5. David was in a period of prosperity and was caught off guard...

a) Extremely Happy People loose their awareness!!!!!!

OR a leader who gives you an order, you follow it though and it backfires, so he balmes you for the bad decision.

3. Amnon after doing such an evil, tries to shift the blame on Tamar, He doesn't take responsibility for his actions (No Honor) and also tried to further destroy Tamar by the law.

3. Absalom was forgiven (Pardoned) from his murder of Amnon and is free to live in the land, but will be responsible for future crimes.

a) The woman gets caught and still weasels her way out to not get David or Joab mad at her or at each other, she was a smart woman and understood men and how to get what she wants out of a man by use of flattery and setting aside her overt ego and give it to the man (building him up) by secretly pulling his strings.

David made wrong decision but sticks by it because he made the oath unto God

9 David was Duped by woman from Tekoa but His decision he made to the woman from Tekoa ALSO applies to Absalom and David now Rebounded is a man of Honor and Keeps his oath, which he made unto God.

A) David must have been pissed at Joab but David keeps his word (Honor) David knows his decision is wrong and must now stick by a wrong decision and this is why avid says "Don't let him ever see my face"

10. David resents his Pardon but sticks by his oath.

5. Grace is God's policy, not when you get what you want by being slick (Joab).

a) People talk about being Graced out when they get what they want (apart from God's will). Thats not Grace. Joab was all happy and thought David showed grace towrd him--soon Job will see what a Jackass he was to sponsor Absalom.

6. When you associate or sponsor those people who are out of line-they ALWAYS come back to haunt you! These people are using you!

a) You're famous, people give you gifts so you can publically say thanks and mention their name (it's not a gift, but them USING your reputation for self-advancement).

Now they have a platform and can tear you to shreads or influence people for their gain.

7. The source of God's Grace is from His Justice! (not His Love--Justice).

a) Many people think in quick fix's. Everything will be great if you give power to this person or if you get rid of that person, etc.

b) Bible Doctrine changes mankind and restores a nation, not putting trust into a man.

9. When Joab returned with Absalom, David makes a declaration that Absalom will not be allowed in the Palace to see David.

a) David gave a Pardon, but not the spirit of the pardon, this just put more fuel on the fire towards Absalom, David did NOT provide the perfect opportunity for Absalom.

1. God never falls in love, He knew all about us Thousands and thousands of years ago.

3. You cannot understand the Integrity of God without first understanding the Love of God and it's function.

#352 2 Samuel 14:24 David would not let Absalom see his face (Meaning of a full Pardon)

1. If you cannot concentrate, you cannot sustain thought, without thought, you live on emotion.

2. Society pardoned Absalom, they wanted him back in the land and free. David did not forgive Absalom, he remembered Amnon when he should have forgave and forgot it because he gave a full pardon.

3. Two wrongs never make a right.

4. Forgive means to forget, the crime has been paid for--if not----Don't pardon if you can't live up to your decision.

5. Half forgiveness is no forgiveness at all, it means "save for future fights".

We should try to reflex his Grace.

9. Bitterness was Absalom's problem. Half-Forgivness was David's problems.

10. David had great authority orientation and faith, but sadly he never passed it on to his son.

Absalom overtly obeyed the King but his soul was not with him.

12. David's action planted the seed of bitterness in Absalom, and Absalom never recovered but lived the rest of his life in bitterness and revolt.

a) For two years Joab has been watching Absalom and sees him hang with the wrong crowd and realizes he made a mistake in sponsoring Absalom.

b) Joab is now dis-illusioned about Absalom, and dis-enchantment set in, but he has wised up and wants nothing to do with arrogant Absalom.

5. Unless Absalom can be seen with the King, the Revolution has stalled. Absalom must be seen with the King to deceive the people, Absalom wants the people to se the King smile down on Absalom. Absalom USES people, he used Joab then his father David for his gain.

6. Until Absalom goes over and shakes hands with the king, he will never get the general Public behind him:

Just as a political candidate gets on the Platform with Billy Graham, etc., they want people to see their buddies and share same views, so they try to steal people by association.

b) Just because you see me talking with someone doesn't mean I back them and their political views or investment schemes.

7. Don't follow man but Bible Doctrine and make your decisions on doctrine and not by emotion or slick talk because you see someone with someone you view as respectable, like Absalom--they hang with respectable people to USE them for self gain!

8. Hero worship is always followed by dis-enchantment. Joab looked at Absalom as the Hero, a great guy, he looked to man rather than let God lead and provide the next King, plus he under estimated David's ability to be a good judge of character.

1. Joab really bent over backwards for Absalom, he never would have come back to Israel with his help, and did Absalom appreciate this? NO.

a) Someday you'll meet someone who you have real compassion for, help out and they show their appreciation by turning on you, in Absalom's case, he burned down one of Joab's filed of barley--just set it on fire, that's a criminal act.

2. Although Absalom has been pardoned, he is still a criminal in his soul, by his own volition. 3. No one can afford even for a second to react to someone in bitterness!

a) Bitterness is arrogance, selfishness, not applying doctrine to the situation and starts a downhill slide if not rebounded.

4. Instead of being objective and learning from David's own failure and wait upon the Lord, Absalom reacted in bitterness and made no advancement spiritually.

5. Arrogance is our enemy, and it's too easy to enter arrogance.

a) Satan fell because of arrogance, we lessor creatures are much more in danger then.

6. Absalom faced some injustices by David's treatment, but Absalom reacted out of bitterness---Absalom has no excuse nor justification for his actions

7. Arrogance and criminality are incapable of gratitude.

8. Absalom had free will and could have chose the route of greatness but he was ruined by his own bad decisions of bitterness. Absalom had all the makings to be great, except hatred.

9. The criminal is an animal and once you cross him, he forgets about all past favors, he will destroy you, he thinks only of self.

10. Bitterness is one of the greatest temptations of life.

11. Absalom was saying when he first got back to Israel, "Boy that Joab is a great guy ya know.." but when Joab didn't come to Absalom when Absalom felt he should have, he turns on him and burns down his whole harvest field of Barley (Verse 30).

Sounds bold, many would think he's tough and have guts but it was a Jackass statement!!! 4. A leader will tell someone or group when they are wrong, but a user, a politician will tell them they are right when they are right or wrong--they just seek to please them.

5. A Politician tells people what they want to hear, the Leader tells them what they Need to hear. a) Politician is a coward and worries about his job, a Leader cares for his people.

6. Arrogance demands attention from others, it doesn't earn it or deserve, but demands respect, many jerk men demand respect and attention from his wife, many social groups demand respect when no one else sees their integrity to respect.

1. Believers have a right to their privacy to learn B-D, what you do for a living, how much you make is no ones business, you are here to learn B-D. Pastors should not bully their flock.

a) If He did the most for us on the Cross--we can rest assured He will now provide for us.

9. God has obligation to us in times of failure and disaster, He will provide our needs. David in great jams and low, God was always there for Him.

10. David facing the revolution, great disaster, yet he had capsity for life, love, etc, he was at his prime form. David knew the key to life wasn't in things-- but in GOD!!!!!!!!!!

11. Success comes from God-don't forget that, just as He promoted you in the past--He can do it agian, just keep on keeping on trusting in Him.

1. In trouble, David doesn't run to some geographical area for safety but to God and B-D!

a) Then he uses good judgment to retreat or stay and fight, but God is his refuge.

11 One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong,

12 and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done."

3. David knew Grace and blessing come from the Lord and everything else is fleeting.

#392 2 Samuel 15:14 Why David fled Jerusalem

1. David fled Jerusalem because Absalom and his troops would be free to run around the city rapping and killing the civilian population, so David fled in order that Absalom and his men would pursue. David was thoughtful of his people (and not jut his hide).

2. How you handle your failures in the past, often shows how you will handle tests in the present or the future.

3. It takes flexibility to fight in the future, and it meant for David running away so he could regroup and fight a good fight against the revolution.

a) David had the humility and flexibility, and it took moral courage to do that.

b) So Jerusalem will be sparred a siege.

#393 2 Samuel 15:14-18 Dual scale of Values

1. Integrity + Honor=Loyalty

2. We must have 2 scales of values, one for peace time and one for adversity.

a) David fled and left Everything behind! He knew it was all from God and God can replace it again if He wanted to, David knew his priorities and not stifled by materialism.

3. David fled and marched on out and had many fellow soldier follow as well as 600 Gittites.

a) David was organized and marched out calmly and cool.

#394 2 Samuel 15:19 David trusted in he Lord and not got bitter at Absalom

1. David told Itttai the Gettite to stay back in Jerusalem and called Absalom the King,

why did he do that?

a) David knew Absalom was irresponsible and a rebel, but when Absalom came to Jerusalem and sat on the Throne, he was King, not by God but self-made.

b) While David was the legitimate King, he recognized there was no another King, though

not promoted by God, and that people would respond to the new King.

2. David doesn't run n around with hang-ups, he's not mad and bitter and running down Absalom or feel threatened by him, for he knows that God has not demoted David--the prophet Nathan did not say to David "You're finished"

a) David was calm and thinking , and when he said to Ittai "go back to king Absalom for you're a stranger in exile from your own country", he didn't run down Absalom, but he left it in THE LORDS HANDS!!!!!

3. Only God can promote or demote David, David knew God would provide and he trusted in God!

even in the face of this trial and with his son sitting on his throne as the new king.

4. David accepts reality and deals with the problems at hand by applying B-D's!

#395 2 Samuel 15:20 Under great pressure, David still thinks of others

1. David told Ittai the Gittite to go back to Jerusalem plus all his countrymen, for he had just joined David in his Army (maybe even hired help) and David was thoughtful and gave him the order to go back because he wasn't David's people and no need to risk their lives.

a) David was more interested in people then in having man-power and numbers to solve his own dilemma.

2. ---> David admits to Ittai that he had no idea where he was going, so why tag along?

a) David didn't try to fake people out that he had a grasp on the whole situation.

#396 (at) 2 Samuel 15:19-20 The Will of God

1. The weakness of establishment authority makes it possible for revolution.

2. Divine Guidance

a) Knowledge of B-D is the Will of God, we will make decisions based on B-D.

b) We make our own decisions and failures, we must depend on God and the Word not counseling for our decisions.

3. Knowing the Will of God is based on the B-D present in your soul.

You cannot know the Will of God apart from the Word of God.

4. We counsel ourselves by applying B-D we know to the situations of our life, not leaning on people, a person gives us one answer then we'll be back for another and another and he starts making decisions for us and we can blame him if it falls apart, We need to stand on our own two feet.

5. Ittai replied to David, after David asked him to return to Jerusalem, Ittai recognized David as his King and also the LORD as divine authority.

a) Ittai had B-D in his soul and knew principle, he would not go back and function under Absalom--a regime with no authority or establishment principles.

6. Ittai has a simple rule in life-----He follows authority in good times and in adversity.

7. Ittai knew God made David King, and Absalom would soon be put down, for it was God's will.

8. Just because David is out of the Palace, with little support, it doesn't mean he was demoted by God, and he wasn't, just a temporary set back and Ittai knew that and went with his King.

9. Going out in the desert with David does not cancel the SuperGrace Blessings from God.

a) God can and will still provide for you in times of war or disaster as He does in the privacy of your home when life is going well. He is able.

#397 2 Samuel 15:20-22

1. David and his men were willing to die for their country, "Give me Liberty or give me death!"

a) Something not worth dying for isn't worth living for.

2. If you're not willing to die for what god has provided, then you're not ready to live.

a) It is better to be dead than Red (living as a slave isn't worth living for).

3. Ittai was not a fair-weather friend but a true friend and had much honor.

4. Ittai had his family with him as did so many, they all had to move out and had Doctrine!

1. In War you put on another scale of values and kill the enemy, you lie to the enemy, you spy on the enemy and you walk away from it with no regrets!

3. The whole purpose of Grace is to motivate not to bribe (Tithing gimmick, etc.) God doesn't bless us by our dead works but a sincere heart ...Grace to the Humble...

4. Man is sinful and has an Old Sin Nature, our best is rags in God's sight, he must lean on Him, not our works to please him, being humble and applying His word to our daily lives.

5. In Counter-Insurgency, the lies that has to be told, all the dihonesty--this is not sin, our duty is to our Nation and the people we serve.

a) The lies, the deceptions does not need to be confessed, they are not sin.

6. In such a time of disaster, you must walk away from your home and leave it all behind and enter into a new scale of values.

a) We are not to judge others, we don't know people's reasons and it's none of our business, those who stayed behind had their reasons and were still faithful to David.

b) So when the boys return from war, they cannot look down at those who stayed behind but live their life as unto God, we can't live other peoples lives but our own, God will take care of everyone and we never know all the facts pro or con.

9. We must determine in our own soul what we must do so must everyone else.

We must be guided on what we have learned.

10. God's will for people is not the same, don't second guess people but simply live your life as unto the Lord.

a) Some people it is God's will to stay single, to live in another region, etc.

1. In times of war you don't hold to your peacetime values, you kill in war and we must be able to switch our scale of values and think nothing of it as far as it being sin--for it's not.

2. Only God can promote or demote the mature believer--David was not demoted and would be restored, and David had this attitude in verse 25...

--->25 Then the king said to Zadok, "Take the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the Lord's eyes, he will bring me back and let me see it and his dwelling place again.

#402 2 Samuel 15:26 Neglecting means loss of capacity

1. David has had great prosperity, but gradually he became careless about doctrine, he got soft and carried away by the gifts, but when problems came he quickly rebounded and got cracking.

2. When God is out of the picture, all our blessings becomes a bore as we loose capacity for them, when we start to neglect B-D.

a) w/o B-D we have no capacity to truly enjoy life, B-D gives us the capacity.

3. B-D must be at the top of our list in ALL times.

4. When we get so much wealth, we think like a loser (w/o B-D) we worry about how to keep our wealth, or when we loose it all, we fall apart and want Uncle Sam to replace it all, and GOD gets taken out the picture--He gave it to us in the first place and He can do it again.

5. This whole revolution is really out of David's hands-if God wants to demote avid he will be demoted. It all depends on God, not us. David realized this, did the best he could but knew it all depended on God. (verse 26).

6. There's a big difference between discipline and demotion, David was disciplined.

7. David said if God wasn't satisfied with him, that he was ready to receive discipline or demotion, that's understanding grace and God, knowing He is in control and not getting all tensed up about losing everything but trusting in Him, David was truly a humble man of faith!

#403 2 Samuel 15:28 Rely on your staff --- Don't try to do it all

1. To be moral in war is silly, you must think to win! Kill the enemy, get the war over with and have a unconditional surrender, otherwise they will rebuild and fight another day.

2. David didn't fight political wars, saying "We better not be too hard on them or we might get them mad" but he when for the all out victory.

3. David relied on information, he didn't try to do it all, but had a great staff, verse 28 David says he will wait until he receives information...

---> 28 " I will wait at the fords in the desert until word comes from you to inform me."

4. Thieme said he never strung up a Reel-to-reel tape but he runs T&P, he doesn't need to say to his people "I won't ask you to do something I could never do" but he leads and he bases his decisions on what to buy, how things are going, etc. based on Information, he has a good staff.

1. God Promoted and Prospered David, and He can to anyone as He sees fit and can take it away.

1. --->31 Now David had been told, "Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom." So David prayed, "O LORD, turn Ahithophel's counsel into foolishness."

2. David's one High Priest defected to David, so David said a prayer against Ahithophel, for he was a genius for Absalom, David's prayer was answered in Verse 32.

3. In facing disaster you must have B-D in the soul, flexibility and humility.

a) He also sets aside instantly his scale of values for things materially and focus at problem

4. Enjoy things and life but realize they come from the Lord and our servant, don't be a slave

to them.

5. To be alert, you can't be wining and mewing over all the things you have left behind, you have to walk away from them and forget them!! Be alert to the situation and not thinking of what they lost.

6. ---> 32 b "Hushai the Arkite was there to meet him, his robe torn and dust on his head."

a) Hushai tore his robe and left the nice things behind and was thinking for David.

#408 2 Samuel 15:33-34 Going Under Cover

1. Hushai hides in the place where no one would look to see him, a place where the Heathen used to offer sacrifices. He is smart and shifts gears in time of disaster, and is not afraid of Heathen places, none of that silly legalistic attitude, he hangs there but is not a part of that function.

2. Many people in the CIA or Police force that goes under cover and looks like a hippie or a bum often cannot go to church for fear of blowing their cover by some self-righteous jackass making an issue of how their dressed. But they are honorable as they lie, cheat, deceive, etc. Just as Hushai!

3. ---> 33 David said to him, "If you go with me, you will be a burden to me.

34 But if you return to the city and say to Absalom, 'I will be your servant, O king; I was your father's servant in the past, but now I will be your servant,' then you can help me by frustrating Ahithophel's advice.

4. David tells Huhai to LIE! Forgot silly legalistic attitudes--this is war.

a) The average Fundy may not be able to accept this, they have one scale of values and lack of common sense and will be crushed by the evil enemies in time of war.

3. Nothing makes you happy, the happiness is already there and things just bring out or express the capacity and +H in your soul.

David is now not Un-happy because he's out of the Palace, they were not the source of his happines, but it was solid on the Rock, and he will never be alone and knwos this life passes away, and what counts is the things eternal...this life is unfair and short and unstable, be stable in Christ, don't be led by greed or attention by keeping your eyes on Heaven.

7. David knew the situation was useless until he was provided with accurate information.

9. David is now to reverse the concentration and Apply Doctrine and to Think under this pressure.

10. David is very prepared but w/o the intervention of the Lord Jesus Christ, he isn't gonna to make it, and David knew this all to well and RELIED on God greatly, for he knew w/o God we are Zero!

11. Jesus Christ controls history! If He doesn't supply a victory-there is no victory!

12. If the Lord doesn't promote you, you are not promoted. When God doesn't give you Victory, then you are defeated!

a) Absalom rejected Ahithpohel's plan thinking he might have gotten all the credit and would make Absalom look bad or feel Ahithophel would take credit, brag and try to steal the throne. ARROGANT people are unstable people, and always scared of other peoples talents.

3. Absalom buys this lie from Hushai, he must have thought, "Ya Hushai knows Dad, he just left him and knows what he'd be doing..." Hushai was a great spy for David.

4. Ahithophel had a great plan and it had to be stopped, and only Hushai could stop it, not by killing the author or running him down, but by being sincere about Ahithophel and slowly bring out the flaws in his plan and bring in your plan, not raising any suspicion.

1. All Absalom had to do was to kill David and he had a great chance from Ahithophel's plan, but Hushai puts it to rest.

a) Hushai makes it look like they would lose to David if they attacked now, whereas in reality, Hushai is supposed to buy time so David can regroup.

2. The fickle general public wanted to replace David, the greatest man of their day by far and wanted arrogant Absalom to take his place, why? b) Greatness is not popularity! The best leaders, Presidents, Pastors, ect were not popular but thought of as hard nosed, but you have to be, to take no bull, no compromise.

c) Nice-guy leaders and Pastors are too Crowd-conscience and compromise to please.

3. You as a executive, leader, ect must not be motivated to be liked but to do your job well and to hell with public opinion:

a) A Pastor who compromises is a great SAD loss, it's a total waste and the blood will be on their hands. Doctrine is to important to compromise to please some jack-ass people!!!!!!

4. Today companies, the Army , ect. is interested in image, saying "we're just like you, come join the Army". You can't lead people when you say you're just like him, you have to patsy, persuade, politic, ect to get he job done, you have to appeal to their arrogance to be nice, it may work when times are well as long as you have good people, but get a complainer in there or someone with a chip on their shoulder and you have a headache and can spread like a disease to others in the organization (Then today you try to fire them and the Govt. steps in and says you cannot, our Freedom is going away and replaced by silliness, catering to the minorities in a Democracy).

1. Nahash had 2 wives. Wife #1 had a daughter "Abigal". He divorced her, she went over and married Jesse (David's father).

a) David's mother was once the wife of Nahash, and they divorced on good terms.

b) Jesse had 8 sons from Nahash's ex-wife, who gave birth to Abigail and a Zeruiah--who was married to Joab(Zeruraih was Jesse's daughter).

2. Nahash from Wife #2 had 2 sons (Hanun, who became King and embarassed two of David's men by ripping thier clothes and half shaving off their beards).

Shobi was the younger son and a great mature believer.

3. Amasa was a bastard. (1 Chron 2:17)

Zeruiah had Joab (who is great)

David has Absalom.

**They are all First Cousins.

4. King Nahash was almost like a step-father, and he was friendly to David.

1. David after the Civil war made Amasa his Chief of Staff, showing even in his later years he still had a soft spot which often was taken advantage of.

2. Zeruiah, David's sister had 3 sons of greatness in the Military. (Joab, Abashi, Osahale)

3. Hard work is self-discipline going into action. Hard work is much greater a virtue then ability.

4. When you work hard, you enjoy your leisure much better.

5. People today focus so much on leisure and work less and have no capacity.

a) There is no substitute for hard work, it never ruined anyone, but leaning on ability has.

6. Arrogance is greater or stronger then environment (Adam ad Eve left perfect environment for their arrogance).

a) Arrogance is greater than relationships, true love can be destroyed by arrogance.

7. Arrogance destroys the best things, ruins capacity and is the worst this life has to offer.

8. Absalom is arrogant and it will destroy him.

>26 The Israelites and Absalom camped in the land of Gilead.

9. They crossed th Jordan. The battle was fought in the east of the Jordan.

10. Verse 26 says Israel and Absalom, Israel applies to Absalom until Chapt 19 or so, and not David. Most the Military type was in revolt of David. So Israel is a keyword , for David had a few of the Northern tribes and much from Judah to follow him.

11. Just as Israel will split in 50 years when Solomon's son reigns, splits into Judah and Israel.

#458 2 Sam 17:27-29 Logistical Grace to David

1. In WW2 America fed the entire Russian troops from 1943-45 and we gave them materials and bent over backwards--and were we appreciated for it?

a) Free Enterprise rises to the occasion always.

2. David was broke when he walked out of Jerusalem. But he was loved and taked care of by the men mentioned in Verse 27.

a) God will provide your needs always by all kinds of ways and through people.

3. David did not have any extra clothes, food or logistics, and he was not worried for he knew God would provide and He did!

4. All thr heroes are not on the battlefield, the ones behind the scenes providing logistics are just as important. And a good leader will acknowledge such.

1. Theres no substitute for thinking under pressure.

2. David was as it were dependant on th kindness of others, for he had nothing to repay the people back with for their kindness and his troops needed logistics.

3. These people did not give as a marketing gimmick or a way to get power but out of grace.

4. If you make money and loose your integrity--you have falied the test and God will punish you, for God is the one who has provided your prosperity.

#460 (intro to Chpt 18) Scale of Values / Concentration

1. Every believer must have 2 scales of values, one for adversity and one for adversity and BD

must be at the top of both, to be flexible.

2. In Historical adversity, all fun things and possessions must be discarded, do not carry extra baggage in your soul or externally.

a) They are meaningless and has no value in adverse times. Leave it all behind.

b) You must be humble, flexible and objective, not clinging to the past.

3. What matters is what you have in your soul, not how well you have planned and all, but do you have BD to weather the storm of crisis? The best plan will fail if the soul fails first.

a) Nothing to Something = Nothing. w/o BD in your soul, you have nothing.

4. It takes concentration to learn BD and it takes that same concentration to apply that Doctrine.

a) Your prayer life is indicative of your ability to concentrate.

5. It's easy to concentrate on things you enjoy, but it takes concentration on the boring things, for all BD is important and you may not need it now, but one day you will.

6. Changing circumstances does not change blessings from the Justice of God, God can and will bless you in any condition you find yourself in.

13. Arrogance is stronger then perfect environment or establishment by good government.

a) Eden and Millennium plus Satan in arrogance left the domain of Heaven.

14. You must be flexible in your rules, example; if someone is comfortable teaching standing up or sitting down, leave that option to them, not say "You must teach from a pulpit standing".

a) This is how legalism and bullying comes into play, when you start to run peoples life.

b) But do not give people the freedom where it infringes on others, i.e. letting a prep-school teacher cuss to the kids, that is not necessary with kids.

c) You give freedom but also protect privacy and respect for others.

15. Church's who infringe on your personal life--you work in a bar and they make you leave the job or leave the Church, they have no right to run your life, the Holy Spirit will convict enough..

a) A Church is not to run your life for you, to gossip about you, to tell you "do this" and "Do that" but to crank out BD and give you the freewill to accept or reject it.

b) A Church is to let those in who wants BD and respects the pastor as the authority.

c) A Church should Protect the flock, no gossip, no politics and to throw out people,

not who are drunks or hookers but those who distract during the teaching of the Word or makes people in the congregation feel uncomfortable by running them down--That is Not tolerated.

16. As bad as Government is is, it's still not as bad as a Revolution.

a) When violence comes in, then you have lost everything, all freedom.

b) Revolution is propaganda as a "need change" but always resorts to violence and it's very roots are evil. You don't take out legitimate authority, you vote them out.

c) No Revolution left the country better off then it started.

17. Absalom took a bunch of hoodlums and went out to overthrow establishment David, unhappy people will not be happy with a new government, for they had no capacity to begin with.

#461 Thinking Doctrine / Leadership Skills

1. Nothing can make you happy when involved in the interlocking ssystems of arrogance, the arrogant are unhappy by choice.

2. Better to have a unbeliever with humility then to have a Christian with no BD in office.

a) We're choosing leaders not filling a Baptist Church Sunday School.

3. Knowledge is the environment for thinking. You can't think if you don't know anything.

a) You have to have Doctrine, you have to have vocabulary.

b) False knowledge is the basis for false thinking.

c) If you have no knowledge you have no thinking but all emotion, as so many Fundies.

4. Absalom in arrogance could not think, he was carried away by being puffed up, Ahithophel had a plan that would have won, but he ignored it in favor of Hushai's plan, and Hushai was just puffin David up winning his favor then offers him a doomed plan.

5. Israel under David was in a time of peace and prosperity and yet so many were not happy

and they went along in the revolt with Absalom and they would have been no more happy if it had succeeded, infact they would have been worse off, for they were just pawns of Absalom.

6. Victory in thinking precedes victory in battle.

7. Absalom had no professional Military knowledge and he became the No.1 sucker of his day.

a) No knowledge and no humility = disaster.

8. Evil men create their own punishment and then Blame it on someone else, it's always someone else's fault. they have too much pride for man to think less of them, so they find a scape goat.

9. A person who is prone to listen to Gossip will never make a good leader, and he will destroy careers of those who are far better than himself.

a) A leader must be flexible and objective and pick good men to be under him, a leader is no better then the men he leads. Douglas MacArthur in the first year or so and Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg failed from no information or bad information. A leader to be a good judge of character must be flexible and free from personal arrogance, free wanting to be well seen But instead just do your job, Free from worrying to be loved by your troops But to lead them and the hell with a popularity contest. Leaders often are never understood and never will be.

a) Col. Thieme gets blasted by his critics for being rough and rude and mean, but he has to protect his flock from legalism and teaches them sound Bible doctrine uncompromising,=Honor.

10. The Humble can think and always beats the arrogant, many better Football teams lost because they were arrogant, many Boxers were outdone by a smaller less fit boxer simply because they were out thought.

#462 (Russian Space Shuttle) 2 Sam 18:1 Authority / Freedom

1. Authority must be established before discipline can be enforced, applies to work, the Military, the local Church, etc. When the authority is recognized then order is in place.

2. Verse 18:1 David appointed men to be commanders for the Absalom campaign, order in place.

3. Business is suffering today for one huge reason--authoirty is not recognized nor defined.

a) When authority is not clearly defined you have chaos, in job, marriage, Church, etc.

4. Authority is the key to Freedom, we talk so much about freedom, but many do not understand it, today we think of Socialism and Sugar daddy Govt. to provide for us.

5. We are all free in USA but with no authority you have everyone looking out for self, if we all did our thing, no one would pay attention to Traffic lights, we are free but bound by authority, that protects the safety of other people and creates order, but when our Freedoms are more and more taken away, that's when our personal choice of how to live

is gone. Freedom protects the privacy of the people not Bully them and tell them how to live.

a) Freedom's taken away is telling you you must wear a seat belt, you must put a smoke detector in your home. When they invade your personal choice of decision and they sugar coat it by calling it "the good for the common person". You protect your people give them Freedom but do not dictate to them in their personal lives how to live, but give them Freedom of Choice and suffer consequences of our actions, today Uncle Sam is taking making our choices.

6. Absalom out numbered David's Army about 10-20 to 1 yet they had no strong leadership

no discipline, just a bunch if free-spirits doing their thing.

a) When you lead by emotion you will only go so far then fail and give up.

b) Nice guy Football coach's who work up his team can only go so far then win they loose a few games, no discipline at all and the team blames each other and does their own thing.

7. Whenever you do something, organize it first, organization defines authorirty.

1. If you do not have self-discipline you have No capacity for Love nor life.

2. We must make decisions based on BD and not from the help of someone else.

5. What really counts in life is whats in your soul. In times or boredum, disaster, and prosperity, with no BD in your soul, you have nothing to control your thoughts and you live on emotion.

a) Good times won't carry you in times of trouble or even in boredum times.

#465 (Death in parking lot) 2 Sam 18:3 Men not trusting thier leaders

1. To see people take BD and apply it under pressure is worth much more then a thank you note.

2. A Pastor does not need a note for encouragement but it should be out of appreciattion for his ministy, for his motivation Must come from the Lord and not man, encouragement is for weak.

3. David wanted to go and to fight, but the men knew David was valuable and had a price on his head and David listened to their advice--thats Flexible !

4. Suspicious breeds arrogance, when you become suspicious of authority, your one step away from a conspiracy or gossup. Do your job as unto the Lord and not politcing.

5. The men have no confidence in their Leaders, they never trained with them, David had to throw this Army together very quickly. These men are wrong but that's how they felt.

a) Training is where men get to know each other and have confidence in them.

6. The men felt that if David went along, he is worth 10,000 men and the leaders will be too distracted to care for david and neglect all the men.

7. The Brains of the Army plans the battle the does not go into the Battle.

#466 2 Sam 18:4 David re-enters arrogance / Gates 18 - 19

1. David enters Interlocking systems of Arrogance again, distracted by emotion for his son.

>4 The king answered, "I will do whatever seems best to you." So the king stood beside the gate while all the men marched out in units of hundreds and of thousands.

2. This is David's last decision of Humility until the revolution is put down.

3. We are most able for defeat after a great victory!

4. Arrogance of Morality(Gate 18): Pre-occupation with false standards of morality to the exclusion of true morality. Morality can be such a great thing and such a trap.

a) false standards from negative volition arrogance.

5. Tithing---if Church's cut out that gimmick they'd have to close down-----so be it.

a) By Trusting in God you know His will and not your will. God knows how to keep a Ministry going, we need not to be beggars.

b) Tithing then becomes a false system of Morality. It takes a true principle in the Old Testament and abuses it for today.

6. When a believer replaces spirituality with morality, he rejects the Grace of God and puts in his own pre-conceived idea's of the CWL (most sum it as "Don't drink, don't smoke, don't cuss).

7. Arrogance destroys the learning process, know it all's. Humility is the key for learning.

8. Enforced Humility starts (or should start) in the home, children must have a foundation in the home or they will get it by hard knocks of life.

9. Capacity factor, we start out with -H and true capacity comes from only the perception and metabolization of BD, not by counseling or by hearing a Bully pastor.

a) The Pastors job is to communicate Doctrine and protect the privacy and that's it !

10. People go to Church to learn BD and not looking for pal or a love, a business deal or to like the pastor.

a ass out of you (you did it yourself) It's funny how people react and justify when They themselves violated the concentration and privacy of others. People came to hear the Word not your comments.

11. Arrogance can be so subtle, people may think they are so wonderful and great and are too lazy to learn Bible Doctrine and see where you are wrong.

12. When your in a hopeless situation, you always run back to the place of strength, and where is the place of strength? Home. Home is the last place where so many have any reality in life.

13. The CWL is a super natural life and requires a super natural execution

a) Anything the unbeliever can do is not the CWL. Morality is just a part of CWL.

14. Many people just follow a Code and that's not it at all--it requires VIRTUE & BD.

a) Many give a Bragi-mony about how good they are---our Righteousness is ZERO !!!

15. Morality is salvation by works and execution by works. Morality is "I see so ands so over there--he is a hypocrite-- I am better then he!" People make a right observation but wrong application.

a) Unbelievers are so turned off by Church for they see hypocrites but that is no excuse.

16. True Morality can not exist without some form of Humility, otherwise it becomes arrogant.

17. Arrogance is lack of thought, David stopped thinking and emoted about Absalom.

#467 Gate 19 Emotion / One moment and we can be arrogant--David / Joab reprimands David

1. Two kinds of emotion, good and bad, a responder or a domination of the soul and replaces BD.

2. Fear and cowardice is a negative emotion that dominates the soul.

3. We cannot make the details of life our source of +H.

4. You can only become arrogant by your own volition, can't blame anyone else.

5. You cannot have capacity for love and life and be arrogant at the same time.

a) To the extent you entertain arrogance you create your own unhappiness.

6. We all make mistakes, it's our status qou when we do, are we in arrogance? If so they intensify into disaster.

7. God the Holy Spirit has seen fit to record many of David's errors not so we can say "What an ass you are David!" but so we can see what a ass we are and to learn not judge. David was one of the greatest men of all time.

8. What a privilege to serve and fight under David one of the best commanders of all time. David was about 60 years old at this time now.

9. Like all of us-one moment David is in fellowship, the next moment he is out, one moment he is great, the next he is under emotional revolt of the soul.

a) David now will be in the arrogance complex until the remainder of the war.

10. David gives the general order in verse 4 "Deal gently with the young man Absalom for my sake" This reveals a very intense love for Absalom, and David wanted everyone to hear the order.

a) David is putting his love above the well being of the people.

b) David had No right to give such an order, Joab was responsible for Absalom, not David, for when Absalom was let back into Jerusalem he was put under Joabs custody.

c) David is abusing his authority and is putting his own standards on them.

11. David has no right o put his son before the military!

12. David had a pity-party after Absalom died and Joab had the guts to confront him and helped get David out of his arrogance binge.

2 Sam 19:4-6

4 The king covered his face and cried aloud, "O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!"

5 Then Joab went into the house to the king and said, "Today you have humiliated all your men, who have just saved your life and the lives of your sons and daughters and the lives of your wives and mistresses.

6 You love those who hate you and hate those who love you. You have made it clear today that the commanders and their men mean nothing to you. I see that you would be pleased if Absalom were alive today and all of us were dead.

7 Now go out and encourage your men. I swear by the LORD that if you don't go out, not a man will be left with you by nightfall. This will be worse for you than all the calamities that have come upon you from your youth till now."

13. It was good that David did not command in the field for this campaign, although he wanted to, but his men persuaded him.

#468 (1889 Johnstown flood, PA) God or the situation? / Iconoclasm

1. God has a plan for the believer in times of prosperity and in times of national disaster.

a) You take in BD now for application in abnormal times.

2. If you get emotional or a coward to where you can't think, then it's all over.

3. Life comes down to one real principle: Do you trust God and BD or look at the situation as greater?

a) Never put the gift above the giver, do not put the disaster over God.

6. We study David as lessons, we study people as lessons but we follow Doctrine, not men.

We don't look at people but Doctrine. We see David and we can learn from him and from people

but don't put them on a pedestal, we all have a old sin nature and studying David reveals this.

1. Offensive brings victory, defensive only prevents defeat.

2. In business and in Military, it's not so much how many men you have but how well you use all them.

3. Verses 6-7 do not give much details about the battle but God felt it was not necessary, it does say 20,000 men died on Absalom's side and that the battle was fought in the Forest of Ephraim.

4. Verse 8 says the Forest, the wood took more lives then the sword.

a) Many men panicked and didn't know the terrain (snakes, bears, cliffs etc).

5. Victory in battle doesn't resolve problems, but the Govt that works afterward.

#470 2 Sam 18:9 Absalom's last stand / Bad choices

1. Absalom was back in the lines of the battle and thought it was safe, not so.

>9 Now Absalom happened to meet David's men. He was riding his mule, and as the mule went under the thick branches of a large oak, Absalom's head got caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair, while the mule he was riding kept on going.

2. Absalom stumbled on David's men then panicked and fled away, trying to hide under some cover. But his hair got caught in a Oak tree.

3. You must have Doctrine in your soul for capacity.

4. We need self-discipline for daily intake of BD and many for studying what we call "dull" doctrines, it's the Word of God and needs to be covered.

5. Absalom with his long hair was a reaction to the authority of Government and to his father's

authority. The hair was a sign of negative volition arrogance, looking to please man then God.

6. Manliness is a state of the soul, a mental attitude, not growing long hair or lifting weights, etc.

7. It really isn't the length of hair that's the real issue but the character of the soul.

a) Absalom wanted long hair and his soul was filled was arrogance.

>Jere 7:29 Cut off your hair and throw it away; take up a lament on the barren heights, for the LORD has rejected and abandoned this generation that is under his wrath.

8. Jere was saying that long hair is a sign of a apostate nation. Look to your soul.

a) 1 Cori 11:14 states long hair is a shame, but reflects the soul.

9. Absalom has now run out of choices. If we continually make bad decisions, rejection of BD, authority, etc, that these bad decisions will eventually close all our options and bring on the Sin Unto death.

#471 2 Sam 18:10-12 The Honorable Soldier wouldn't kill Absalom

1. A young soldier of David saw Absalom hanging from the Oak tree but did not kill him but told this to Joab, for he heard David's order.

a) Joab responded by saying "Why didn't you kill him?" And said he would have promoted him with silver and a warriors belt.

2. The soldier placed honor and integrity above personal advancement and decorations.

3. Joab gave him a unfair reprimand. This was a honorable man !

4. This soldier would have been promoted if he bypassed his honor but did not and God the Holy Spirit so honored him by these verses.

5. Will you succumb to arrogance and compromise or take your honorable stand?

6. David's order about Absalom was silly and out of line but it was an order and had to be followed. Honor and integrity is far more valuable then wealth and fame.

a) If God doesn't promote you--you are not promoted.

7. You can live w/o a lot but you cannot live w/o BD and honor and integrity.

8. Joab had the right to kill Absalom for he was put under Joab's custody.

a) I'm sure the soldier wanted to kill Absalom badly for all the harm he had done but he restrained himself to authority and told his commander Joab.

>12 But the man replied, "Even if a thousand shekels were weighed out into my hands, I would not lift my hand against the king's son. In our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, 'Protect the young man Absalom for my sake.'

9. This soldier was incorruptible in his duty, God the Holy Spirit seemed fit to put this in the Bible and we can learn Honor from it.

10. There will be those who are great from BD and those who are bums from arrogance and fail from negative volition. We don't need to be critical of anyone, often we look down at people, but anyone who will give BD a hearing we must never do anything to discourage them.

11. There's hope in every generation.

12. No one is perfect, even the best men like Joab will fail, Joab was wrong to reprimand this guy.

#472 2 Sam 18:11 Loyalty and Honor

1. If the soldier would have killed Absalom he would have been promoted perhaps but would have No honor.

a) He would have placed loyalty to Joab over loyalty to David. He would have put greed over his values, but his soul priorities was Honor to David.

2. We will get tested like this too-----Loyalty to Doctrine or to bend the rules to get advancement.

3. We need to straighten out our loyalties and align them with BD.

4. It must have been very tempting to kill Absalom, it would have placed him above his peers instantly, promotion, reputation and his hatred toward Absalom for all the harm he had caused.

5. Joab off the record would have liked the soldier for killing Absalom, but for the record for disobeying David's orders, he would have been reprimanded and disciplined.

a) There are a lot of people in authority w/o integrity, the soldier was saying, you are chewing me out for not killing Absalom, but you would have chewed me out for killing Absalom too, he saw Joab's double standard, Joab wanted him to do his dirty work.

>13 And if I had put my life in jeopardy --and nothing is hidden from the king--you would have kept your distance from me."

6. This officer was under pressure from Joab but he kept his stand, he was Right !

7. This Soldier is aware that Joab killed Uriah the Hitite and knew Joab was a politician and had mis-placed Loyalty.

a) You can have loyalty mis-placed, for self-gain, to follow on the wrong side(Jonathon following Saul, Joab obeying orders to murder Uriah, ect.)

8. This honorable soldier realizes that if he loses his Honor, he has nothing in life left.

a) Joab here shows his honor to David by killing Absalom and doing for David what David would never do. The Soldier here reminds Joab of his own Honor and Joab then does his work, and he knew if not David would be ruined.

b) Joab was the only one to have the right to kill Absalom for he was responsible for him.

11. If God doesn't promote you you are not promoted, God would in time promote that honorable soldier but killing Absalom has not the thing for him to do.

#473 2 Sam 18:14b-16 Self-Discipline

1. The great problem is in what people think !

2. You could vote in the best politicians and it won't change a thing---for the thinking is the same, filled with human viewpoint, they think more of pleasure than of B.D.

3. Are your children trained so that when they are own their own they will not fall apart?

4. Self-discipline is the key to life and it's not being excercised.

5. If you do not put restrains on yourself and do not have standards, then you won't have capacity

for life and your life will be a big fat Zero and your life won't be worth a damn.

6. You don't go to Church for "fun" but for Doctrine!

7. By putting restrains on yourself you build capacity. You must make BD #1 and Force yourself often to hear a tape.

8. You should have BD not society restraining you--you know right from wrong!

9. Not everyone who opposes you is your enemy, not everyone who is for you is your friend.

a) The honorable soldier opposed Joab but was right and Joab if had any integrity saw it.

10. Joab throw 3 javelins into Absalom's chests which didn't kill him, so he was hanging there in great pain and alive. He might have been wearing some chest protection so the arrows didn't kill.

11. Then 10 Joab's armour-bearer's then struck him down and killed him.

12. David in interlocking-systems of arrogance was in no shape to handle Absalom.

13. Joab had Absalom killed and he then sounded RECALL, no need to slaughter all of the rebel Army for he knew the war was over now and needed not to complicate it further.

>16 Then Joab sounded the trumpet(gave the order), and the troops stopped pursuing Israel, for Joab halted them.

14. Joab has used great restraint, totally in control of himself and in the Army he commands.

15. Joab used restraint after Victory. Football: The guy scores a TD and does a dance and all, he's inconsistent and lives on emotion and rubs it in, taunts.

a) A great virtue in victory is the restraint of humility.

16. War: You are there to defeat the enemy, not to take out vengeance on the people.

a) Joab could have easily slaughtered the rest of the rebel Army, but what would that solve? He had Class---whereas Gen. Sherman in the Civil was did not and caused such a riff your years to come between the North and South.

17. The Rebel Army all fled away for the were led by emotional non-thinking leaders!

a) You are no better than the leaders over you in a unit or a Army.

19. Joab executed Absalom professionally, no torture or slow death. Nor did he get emotional and let him go, Joab kept on thinking. For Absalom at one time was a great friend to Joab.

#474 2 Sam 18:16-17 Absalom had to die

1. Joab made 2 great decisons that gave David future options to be a great King.

a) Joab killed Absalom and spared the rest of the rebel Army.

2. As long as Absalom were alive, malcontent people would always flock to him and David would never had any peace. The malcontent you have with you always, having a trouble making punk son to sweet talk and rouse them though is not good.

3. Joab disposed of the corpse at the battlefield, he didn't flaunt the body. He was burried as a criminal and not as a Prince.

>17 They took the corpse of Absalom, threw him into a big pit in the forest and piled up a large heap of rocks over him. Meanwhile, all the Israelites fled to their homes.

4. The throwing of rocks on him was a sign of a traitor a criminal.

5. His site was unknown so no one could make a shrine of it and a place where malcontents can go and meet.

6. Absalom made every decision to be put under that pile of rocks. It's not a shame.

7. Rebel Army fled Home, what does the defeated Army think of now? Rape, luting, rioting, crime? No, they want to go home.

3. Absalom lacked enforced Humility in his own life, and constructed a monument to himself to perpetuate his memory in stone so all man can see what a jackass he really was.

a) Who really gives a damn? It's what God thinks, not man!

4. What is not perpetuated in honor, integrity, Doctrine is a monument to human arrogance.

5. Life is meaning w/o the possession of BD resident in the soul.

1. Organizational Humilty begins in the home (enforced).

2. Parents set up a policy and make him stick by it.

3. Kids today reject their parents authority will tomorrow reject the Police, the Boss, the Coach.

4. Kids think they know it all, who are they, just some young pup and they are all grown up.

5. David had abnormal grief for the death of Absalom. He should have been giving out medals to his Army, but we find him crying and emoting, he was in Gate 19 "Emotional arrogance".

6. When you get involved with psychopathic arrogance and emotional arrogance you loose your humility, David in Chpt 19 looses his humility.

7. W/o humility all our freedom will we destroy ourselves.

8. In life, Freedom isn't the issue-authority is the issue!

9. All of us must be subordinated to authority, for the pastor they are responsible directly to God.

10. we never have to worry about pastors, God takes good care of them good and bad.

a) The pastor gets double discipline, they are held accountable to God.

11. Ahimaaz wanted badly to go and run and tell David the news of Absalom, but he respected his Officer. He asked again if he can go and permission was granted, he had honor and didn't sneak.

>22 Ahimaaz son of Zadok again said to Joab, "Come what may, please sir let me run behind the Cushite." But Joab replied, "My son, why do you want to go? You don't have any news that will bring you a reward."

12. Ahimaaz says "please" not only respects authority but has good manners.

13. Ahimaaz would go on to be High Priest in Solomon's day.

14. Ahimaaz has humility and God use prepared men, he was prepared in heart.

15. Ahimaaz perhaps knew the Cushite would not be tactful in his report to avid (which he was not). Ahimaaz had nothing to gain for this race to David, he had love for David.

16. The Cushite was thinking about himself with the news to David, whereas Ahimaaz was tactful, he was thinking about David.

17. Why have a half chapter for this race? Many see this as pointless, but God the Holy Spirit saw fit to include this and we need to study it.

>23 He said, "Come what may, I want to run." So Joab said, "Run!" Then Ahimaaz ran by way of the plain and outran the Cushite.

18. The cushite had a huge head start but Ahimaaz was determine to get to David first.

#478 The race / Respect for Authority

1. Verses 24-25 a watchman saw Ahimaaz running toward the castle.

2. The watchman told David the runner was alone and David figured it was good news.

3. David was on border line emotional breakdown and if the Cushite came first he would have given the news in a cold way and mentioned Absalom's death--Ahimaaz made No mention.

4. David is then told of another man approaching the gate (the cushite) David assumed it was more good news. If a bunch of guys came at once, David would know the battle was lost.

5. David is in a state now that any bad news give coldly or boldly would have destroyed him, for he reacted bad enough when heard of Absalom's death.

6. The Officer at the gate recognized Ahimaaz and David said he was a good man (verse 27).

7. Ahimaaz has a good name for himself--he had class ! He has poise and good manners.

8. The cushite did not bow to the King when approached him. The cushite is arrogant.

9. The cushite is one who says "You have to earn my respect"! We see this today, the weak boos feels he must "earn" their repsect-----They HAVE authority and You are out of line to reject authority. People today politic to their flock, to their workers, to their troops, etc. and it's wrong!

a) What you think of your boss is NOT the issue-he is your boss and as unto the Lord

you are Commanded to respect his authority!

10. Verse 21, The cushite Bowed to Joab but in verse 31 he did not bow to David.

a) Joab was a fighter and the cushite respected him---but he had to authority concepts.

11. "F" your wimpy personal feelings over authority. You are a arrogant emotional ass!

12. Arrogance rejects authority by personality. These people you either have to baby or can/fire.

13. Joab was raised by his mother along with two other brothers and all were honorable men who served in the Military.

a) Discipline must be done in the home and it can be done by single moms if need be.

b) You learn to respect the authority no matter who is in charge, a kid, a woman, ect.

14. Authority in life has a purpose, to have stability and order and is ordained by God.

>Heb 13:7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith(not him-but Doctrine, what he teaches!).

15. Setting an example isn't what counts, it's inculcation of BD and discipline.

#479 Ahimaaz vs The Cushite / David out of line in reacting to Absalom's death

1. The kid who rejects parental authority will reject pastoral authority.

2. Some people are so preoccupied by what they think that they are insensitive to others.

a) Arrogance is occupied with self, honor is respect for others.

b) at church, a concert, a movie,etc people are self-centered, they make noises, talk, distract, give their opinions and show no courtesy for others.

3. Verse 28 Ahimaaz says to David "All is well--Victory" and in Verse 29 when asked about Absalom, Ahimaaz beat around the bush and did not answer, he was tactful and thoughtful.

4. The Cushite should never have been sent-that was Joab's mistake. He wanted a reward and did not care for David or maybe was ignorant of David's love for Absalom.

5. Ahimaaz knew it wasn't his place to break the news of the death of his son, he knew that was for Joab to explain, for David gave the order not to harm Absalom.

6. Job 5:19-27 God will deliver you from 7 things.

7. Bible Doctrine is greater than anything in life-your problems and fears.

8. You must be relaxed under pressure, you cannot think when your not relaxed.

9. David FAILED to realize GOD's timing!!!! The Lord gave the Lord has taken away.

a) When his first son from Bathsheba died he knew it was God's will and timing and that he would be with him in Heaven. David should have had the same attitude with Absalom.

b) David is so pre-occupied with his own opinion and feelings that he cannot think and he is putting them above he will of God, he should have known it was his time to go.

c) Instead David sulked and complained. Normal mourning is great, but he carried it too far and neglected his Army who had just put their lives on the line for him to regain the Throne.

1. Your children is never as important as your husband---but whoever said you have true love?

2. Now that the battle is over, the pressure isn't off, David needs to be alert to rebuild the army and the nation, and David is in the worst condition NOW in his whole life.

3. Bathsheba is right there in town and David doesn't go and console her put all he can think about is the death of Absalom, over reacting, Not using Plan of God rationale.

8. Normal grief is great, but David went over board and neglected all his other duties.

2. Arrogance is a way of thinking and a system, a power that is greater then perfect environment and true love. It was the motivator of Satan in his fall and with Adam & Eve.

12. Arroagnce comes along and says "I am above the law" or "They are not treating me right so I will not obey" i.e. Children in the home, a Church, a Marriage.

a) They distort success and become arrogant Or the guy who feels he is not getting recognized falls into this.

13. We all belong to organizations and encounter authority-it's how we deal with that authority is the issue.

#5 Blind Arrogance (Ignorance of BD) Matt 20:1-16 (Vinyard wages for diff hours)

14. Tries to fulfill CWL by somethig he does or "feels", Tongues, Tithes, Works, Morailty, etc.

a) He tries to achieve spiritual growth by works and is too lazy or rejects BD.

b) These people may be sincere but do not get with BD.

15. The Managment who invest the money has a right to make the policy, and to be fair!

a) When you takea job and agree to the wages and then a new guy comes in and makes more then you---if you react, you are out of line according to the Bible for you agreed to it.

b) You worry about You and not what everyone else is making.

23. A psycopath thinks at times they are above what they are, htey think they are a Apostle or Elijah or Jesus Christ.

5. Happiness is a state of the soul, not simply pleasant environment.

6. W/o capacity in your soul, when people do things for you-you do not appreciate it, you are pre-occupied with self.

a) Unhappy people in soul always stand around and demand people to make them happy.

b) They give nothing but demand everything.

7. No One can make you happy and No Thing can make you happy. Gifts, people, marriage, etc is NOT happiness, you can have it all but w/o capacity you will not be happy.

8. All the luxuries we have today and American's are not happy as a whole.

9. With BD in yoru soul, people and a area can make you happy, expressing your capacity, but they Cannot make you Unhappy! For your +H is dependant on BD.

10. You can be happy with things and without, as Paul said in Philippians 4:11-13.

11. Arrogance is always a basic cause for unhappiness, and you can never make them happy.

12. Psalm 89 deals with Happiness.

>Psalm 144:15 Happiness are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

John 17:13 "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.

13. Unhappy people cannot find +H so they try to dominate their environment and enslave everyone near them.

#17 Iconoclastic Arrogance (Role Model Arrogance)

14. The unhappy always look for someone to make them happy, they idolize someone that they think will make them happy. People get married thinking it is the answer to happiness.

15. One day you realize they are like you and you react, you smash your idol then if your still a fool, you go look for another idol. Many women go from man to man, Never happy but never giving up seaching through the vanities of this world as Solomon did.

16. Iconoclasts always Overrate people and that is Your fault, they are innocent victims of your own arrogance, You created a idol--"the perfect man" anything man creates is bound to fail.

17. David had Iconoclastic Arrogance for Absalom but never got to see his feet of clay, he blamed himslef for Absalom's actions and felt He could have made it all better, like we think we can save a marriage and the spouse can care less for you.

18. True Love see the flaws of the object of love and Love's them anyways.

a) Today's love is so superfiscial they leave as soon as they have one arguement.

19. Arrogance is dumb to think someone is perfect or "perfect for them" and they make them out to be perfect, a source to their happiness and when they realize he is just a man, they react and get bitter and do some dumb things.

#18 Arrogance of Morality (Self Righteousness)

20. Pre-occupation with a false standard of Morailty, close to Blind and Crusader Arrogance.

21. Pick and choose Morailty is arrogance, you don't like theTax system so you say "This is wrong I won't pay" You say it's immoral but your arrogamce of Morailty makes you a Crusader.

#483 2 Sam 19:1-3 David's all time low / David destroys the Army's mood

1. David recovers from his emotional arrogance in 19:1-8

>19:1 It was reported to Joab, "The king continues to weep and mourn for Absalom."

2. When the first Child by Bathsheba died, David picked himself up and comforted his wife.

a) This time he was carrying on with emotion and neglecting all his duties.

3. David has not turned his back on BD, but in arrogance of emotion he is unable to apply BD.

4. Negative emotion dominates the soul and replaces BD.

5. Fear and emotion dominate the soul and destroys thinking, courage is thinking under pressure.

6. Emotional arrogance is vulnerable to flattery. The person is already in unreality and is puffed up with flattery.

7. Joab is gonna walk right in and brash David, whereas he could have easily puffed David up.

a) But Joab also cared for David and for his men!

8. David had a great sense of destiny, even as a shepherd he kept the sheep when the other brothers were out playing.

9. David changes almost over night when he goes into Int Systems of Arrogance, it can happen to all of us. We find David at the lowest spot in his life.

10. The Army's High morale from the victory turn into mourning, for they loved David, they fought for him and are sad to hear he is sad and because they feel neglected by David.

>2 And for the whole army the victory that day was turned into mourning, because on that day the troops heard it said, "The king is grieving for his son."

>3 The men stole into the city that day as men steal in who are ashamed when they flee from battle.

11. The Army started to feel sorry for themselves and feel sort of ashamed with a guilt complex, David has infected his Army by his arrogance.

12. The great triumph at that moment was destroyed, sorta like you have something really great that happened to you and your family brings you down or people at work, whatever, you had your joy coming crashing down because of some arrogant person.

13. Arrogance destroys the perspective of life. On Memorial day, you don't find people remembering them but a day for a BBQ blow out, the thinking today is appalling, all they think about is themselves. The Military and Police Officer is ridiculed today.

14. The Army came back into the city as a losing Army, they came in with a low head for they all heard the King was weeping-------instead of Grateful for saving his skin and all Israel !

a) What David did as a professional soldier and leader is inexcusable.

b) For a winning Army to have to sneak back into town is a tragedy.

15. Just as USA today give out all kinds of money, subsidies to SCUM and bums who won't work

or to your kids use them as gimmicks to get re-elected and totally NEGLECT the Military! and thus create our own downfall---we are and arrogant Nation.

16. God eventually runs out of patience and will clobbers us.

a) It will shock some people back into reality and humility.

b) Many people get complacent and vain and need a wake up call.

17. David hasn't even got down on his knees and thanked God for the voctory.

a) Arrogant people have no appreciation for anything! They look at gifts with strings or "He gave me this to win me over or feels sorry for me, etc" Just accept the damn gift and shut up!

18. David has no courtecy to his troops and no thanksgiving toward God at this time.

#484 2 Sam 19:4 Complacency / Ungrateful

1. People in arrogance never appreciate anything you do for them and David did not appreciate this great victory that his troops did for him.

2. Beware after a long time of prosperity that you do not let it become a distraction by becoming complacent, fat and happy, putting other things above Doctrine.

3. The last 10 Years of David's life is the greatest.

>4 The king covered his face and cried aloud(tantum, screaming), "O my son Absalom! O Absalom, my son, my son!"

4. David is alone and weeping, yet so many are around to comfort him.

5. Normal grief is understandable, but David is so pre-occupied with his grief that he has no care for his Army, his family nor Israel.

6. David in his arrogance here completely collapses, instead of using volition for self-control and poise, he uses his volition to enter various parts of arrogance.

7. When God spanks us and we know it, we're under the gun---the issue is can we carry on or not?

a) If we fail to carry on, the discipline automatically increases by your lack of poise and ability to carry on.

8. David one thing that happened was he got away from routine, he was fine until he got to Mahanaim, and his life was out of routine and he did not apply doctrine.

a) When the report came back after the battle, all he asked was "How is Absalom".

9. Joab now will take charge of the matter-it's a very unusual situation and Joab brashes David, for David cannot carry on as King in this state and Joab knows it.

10. Only Nathan reprimanded David worse then David, but Nathan had a command from the Lord to rebuke David after Bathsheba and Uriah situation, Joab did this reprimand on his own.

a) Joab's courageous decision to do this saved Israel.

>5 Then Joab went into the headquarters of the king and said, "Today you have humiliated all your men, who have just saved your life and the lives of your sons and daughters and the lives of your wives and mistresses.

11. Joab called it like it was and pulled no punches.

12. Arrogance destroys the ability to be grateful, thankful, and considerate of others.

a) Capacity for life and love Must include what others have done for you.

b) Lack of appreciateion and ungratefulness shows involvement of arrogance.

c) Arrogance leads into degeneracy, and degeneracy has NO thankfulness.

13. David does not even thank GOD for saving his skin----nothing to his men, to the family who lost their loved ones in battle----NOTHING! He thinks of nothing but himself.

#485 2 Sam 19:6-7 Joab chews out David

1. Joab is the real hero in this desperate time.

>6 You love those who hate you(Absalom) and hate those who love you(David's attitude toward the Army). You have made it clear today that the commanders and their troops mean nothing to you. I see that you would be pleased if Absalom were alive today and all of us were dead.

2. Joab was the only thing that shocked David back to reality, this was a great thing Joab did.

>7 Now go out and encourage your men. I swear by the LORD that if you don't go out, not a man will be left with you by nightfall. This will be worse for you than all the calamities that have come upon you from your youth till now."(Pretty strong stuff)

#486 2 Sam 19:8/Psalm 33 David Rebounds

1. Joab had honor, he could have tried to steal the throne from David at a couple of occasions, but he had honor, whereas Absalom did not.

2. David was brought back to reality by Joab's harsh words, sweet words and gentleness would not have brought David out of his arrogance.

a) David took a hard thrashing of words from Joab, but he knew he was right (humble).

3. David rebounded. David now rebuilds Israel.

>8 So the king got up and took his seat in the gateway. When the men were told, "The king is sitting in the gateway," they all came before him. Meanwhile, the Israelites had fled to their homes.

4. David ended up judged a good man, he made many mistakes but his heart was true to God...

> 1 Kings 15:5 because David did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and had not turned aside from anything that He commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

5. David was the greatest King ever of Israel and was a measuring rod thereafter.

1. Humility begins in the home or the hard knocks of life.

a) God deals with us in fairness, He judges a nation in fairness.

b) Love is a emotion and fickle, always take a woman's respect over her love.

8. Love is no better then the person who says it to you. Imp Love has virtue but who has that?

9. The greatest relationships in life are those based on integrity not emotions.

10. David started the post war Israel on Virtue and honor and God, not as Woodrow Wilson did by "let's love the world".

1. God is always faithful even when we become faithless and become an ass, God does not get bittter and go against His justice and act in anger to you.

2. Your life must be organized,you can't love or work or life w/o organized, and it starts with BD!

3. Ps. 33 is David giving a speech to his Army that is about to be disbanded, Israel will begin to enjoy 50 years of peace.

4. Arrogance is childish and immaturity and people get down by silliness, your team lost the game--big whoop.
